You might be wondering, how can another person’s presence, words, and interactions benefit your mental health? I mean is it possible that another person can impact me this much? Yes! We all have blind spots, even therapists (that’s why the best ones have been in therapy themselves). The reality is that everyone can benefit from therapy.
Therapy is the space you and your therapist create together. That space can be anything, the potential is endless. It is a safe place where you can share anything that is in your heart, mind, and soul. After all, we abide by confidentiality laws ????.
Just imagine you are having a conversation with a person who won’t judge you and won’t give you advice, but instead will use their skills to understand your experience, how you see the world and what are those patterns in your life you want to improve, your goals and your passions. Therefore, for once you don’t have to wonder if a therapist is analyzing you, in this space it is our job and it is good for you!
Sure, it can be scary to make that first appointment. Our culture teaches us to be “strong” that we can “manage it all” and we must not rest to succeed. Have you ever heard the phrase “sometimes in life your situation will keep repeating itself until you learn your lesson” …? Well in the world of therapists this just means that you might be repeating patterns from unhealed emotions. Emotions are the most neglected parts of ourselves, and until we recognize how our emotions impact our decisions, thoughts, patterns and interactions with family and friends, we don’t really get to know ourselves. But don’t worry, that’s what we are here for!
You are welcomed to share in the comments, your questions about therapy or anything that you have questions about. Till next time!
